Abstract
Vocabulary plays important role in learning foreign language that links to four language skills listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Without acquiring adequate number of vocabulary, the learner find difficulties in commnicating.to knoe the succes in learning vocabulary exercise is needed, moreover exercise has effects on students' motivation in learning english. But the real condition in our education, there are many teachers do not carrefully giving exercise. They ignore to create exrecise that can increase students'motivation by combining technology and tasks.from those problem. This study has three aims. First, to find the kinds of criteria required in creating vocabulary exercise. Second, to describe the procedure of developing memory game maker to create vocabulary exercise for students, and the third to know the students' responses to the vocabulary exercise software. To develop the software, the researcher begins by choosing good software namely memory game maker based on the criteria of good software. The researcher creates three kind of activity, those are Tetris game maker, Matching game maker, and comprehension task maker. The researcher makes five questions in every activity, all of the questions are taken from the course book chapter 1 under the title" English in Focus" by Artono Wardiman. After that the researcher tests the product to know the students' response and revise the product. The result of this study reports that there are some steps in developing memory game maker. First the researcher determines the criteria of good software exercise. Second selecting the software based on the criteria of good software exercise. Third the researcher develops the software by making some questions as example of vocabulary exercise software refer to the course book that is used by students. Fourth the product is tested to know the students' response and to revise the product. Fifth the product is revised based on students' and teacher's suggestion and opinion. Besides, the result of students' response to the product concludes that the software has appropriated the criteria of good software exercise, so it is suitable and feasible to be applied in learning vocabulary.
