Abstract

ICT (Information and communication technology) has become the most vital facility in all aspects of human life in this era. People around the world can use it to support all activities. People can gather information from many sources through technology, like the internet, e-books, mobile phones, and any devices or tools that can be accessed anywhere and anytime. This study investigates the correlation between the ICT competency level and the autonomous learning level of 11th-grade students of MAN 1 Gresik. The researcher investigates the correlation using a quantitative approach. Data were collected by questionnaire and shared with the 50 respondents. The first instrument measures the ICT competency level, which contains 11 questions adapted from Gastelu. The second instrument measured the learning autonomy level, containing ten questions adapted from Abdelrazeq. Both of the instruments used 4 points Likert scale. The methodology employed in this research is quantitative. This research investigates the correlation between two variables, in this case, ICT competency level and learning autonomy level. This research showed that the correlation between ICT competency level and learning autonomy level is positive, with a coefficient of 0,4263. A positive correlation indicates that both variables move in the same direction. Therefore, as autonomy in learning increases, ICT competence also increases. Conversely, if ICT competence decreases, autonomous learning also decreases. Furthermore, the results suggest a moderate correlation between the variables, indicating that they are moderately correlated, neither too strong nor too weak.
