Abstract

Acquiring a diverse range of vocabulary will help students communicate or construct sentences more easily. The use of appropriate media in the learning process facilitates language acquisition. This study aims to explain the impact of social media on students' acquisition of English vocabulary and clarify the correlation between students' use of social media and their mastery of vocabulary. This study employs a qualitative methodology. We gathered the necessary data for this research through a questionnaire, then examined it using qualitative descriptive techniques. The findings indicate that the majority of students perceive social media as having an impact on their proficiency in the English language. Instagram and TikTok are widely popular social media platforms among students. Moreover, they asserted that social media offered English content sources for developing their English skills, increasing their vocabulary and pronunciation ability. The majority of students find learning social media terminology to be more engaging than reading books. Social media has significant potential as an educational tool for improving students' vocabulary skills. Given the resolution of current challenges and the implementation of appropriate strategies, The findings imply that educators might include social media in their curriculum to develop effective and engaging teaching methods.
