Representation of pink and green symbols as netizens' resistance in the 17+8 movement of people's demands on Instagram

Instagram is one of the popuper social media platforms in Indonesia which is not only a means of sharing information, but also a medium for representing resistance and collective solidarity. This phenomenon is seen in the 17+8 People's Demands Movement which contains a collection of community demands and is expressed through pink and green simbols that give birth to a trend, namely Brave Pink and Hero Green. This research aims to find out the use of pink and green simbols on Instagram in representing the form of resistance of Indonesian netizens in the 17+8 People's Demands Movement. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with Roland Barthes semiotic analysis which consists of denotation, connotation, and myth. The research object that is studied is the pink and green simbols in Instagram uploads. Data collection techniques are carried out in several techniques, including observation, documentation, and library studies. The research results show that the resistance of netizens in the 17+8 Movement People's demands is represented through pink and green simbols on Instagram. Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis reveals that the simbol has a donotative, connotative, and also a myth that represents the courage, strength, struggle, and sacrifice of the small people. Instagram as a digital public space allows this simbol to be produced, distributed, and interpreted widely so that a participatory and open collective resistance is formed.
