Abstract
Collaborative writing is one of the writing model which was developed from the collaborative learning concept. It is a writing sharing model between teachers and students both in terms of knowledge and authority in the classroom when they collaborate to complete the English writing tasks. In collaborative writing, there are four parameters which are; heterogeneous grouping of students, teacher as mediator, shared authority, and shared knowledge. The aim of this research is to analyze English teacher'sstrategies to facilitate Collaborative Writing in ELT classes in MTS Sunan Kalijaga Surabaya. This research used qualitative methods. The researcher interviewed 4 English Teachers of MTs Sunan Kalijaga who experienced of practicing collaborative writing in the class. The finding shows that there are four strategies to facilitate collaborative writing in ELT used by English Teacher at MTs Sunan Kalijaga. There are; explaining the material for each group by using media, checking students’ understanding work by the teacher, comparing students writing before and after do the task, dividing students in some groups based on students’ understanding about the topic, dividing students based on fast learner and slow learner.
