An analysis of the moral values in Paulo Coelho's the archer

Moral values in humans are shaped through diverse experiences, with each individual developing their unique path to acquiring or forming these values. The study aims to find out how the author of The Archer portrayed the main character and how the character represents moral values. Recognizing the significance of moral values is not universal, as some individuals may take years to comprehend their importance. The problem to be solved in this study, namely: (1) How is the main character represented in The Archer novel ? and (2) How are the moral values presented in Paulo Coelho’s The Archer novel. The research uses a descriptive-qualitative research method to explore how the author of The Archer novel presents moral values based on the data found in the novel. Through a descriptive research design, the study aims to comprehensively explain moral values in Paulo Coelho's The Archer, employing verbal expressions to elucidate findings. New Criticism examines how formal elements such as character and characterization represent the moral value that impacts the story. The researcher also examines the moral values drawn in the novel using Kinnier's theory. The analysis reveals how the main character, Tetsuya, is represented in the novel, the pivotal role of moral values, and the repercussions of human actions. For future research, it is recommended that the narrative's impact on readers' character development and moral values be further investigated on a broader scale.
