Revealing Nura’s Decision in Maeeda Khan’s Nura and the Immortal Palace

The study aims to explore Nura's decision-making process and the factors behind Nura's decision in the novel Nura and the Immortal Palace written by Maeeda Khan. In the story, Nura performs an important decision-making process when she finds the Demon's Tongue. This research has one research question: (1) How is Nura's decision-making process described in the novel. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research approach to analyze the studied issue. The researcher applies a descriptive method to describe Nura's decision-making process and interpret the factors behind Nura's decision through the dialogue of the novel Nura and the Immortal Palace. This research reveals Nura's decision-making process is related to her motivation. Nura wants to earn a lot of money by working in the Meerabagh mica mine, representing her motives to grow, survive, and meet her family's basic needs. However, Nura's desire to get a lot of money cannot depend only on the mining proceeds, so she finds Demon's Tongue for extra money. After many things happen, Nura successfully finds the Demon's Tongue—a precious treasure. However, after Nura got a lot of money, she decided to build a school for other mica mining children to escape the poverty cycle. This represents Nura's conscience. Nura's decision-making reflects the human motives to improve her life, which makes Nura reach her dream and decide to build a school.
