Abstract

This research examines the leadership and legitimacy gains of Sri Retnowati as the Head of Domas Village, Menganti Subdistrict, Gresik Regency. Sri Retnowati is a village head in Domas Village, currently in her last period of leadership in her three terms of office. It is considered a good achievement for a village head who is able to survive until the specified leadership deadline. The purpose of this study is to determine how Sri Retnowati's leadership can maintain her position as village head in Domas Village for three periods. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews directly with Sri Retnowati, along with several other village officials needed to support the data obtained. The theory used is the concept of Feminine-Masculine (androgyny) theory and legitimacy in power to see what Sri Retnowati's leadership looks like so that she can become a legitimate village head for three periods. The findings obtained from this research are that Sri Retnowati's leadership is not based on an organizational background or a history of leading because she was asked to run for village head. In addition, her election without involving money politics makes her credibility as a leader more visible. The results that can be concluded are that Sri Retnowati collaborates androgynous leadership, which can adjust between feminine and masculine styles in decision making and problem solving. With her leadership character and good performance, Sri Retnowati ultimately influenced the acquisition of legitimacy that could make her last for 3 periods.
