The factors cause auburn's character development in collen hoover's confess

This study examines Auburn’s character development in the novel Confess by Colleen Hoover. Several issues that are analyzed in this study are (1) What internal factors contribute to Auburn’s character development in Confess; (2) What external factors contribute to Auburn’s character development in Confess; (3) How Auburn’s character develops in Confess. The research method uses descriptive qualitative analysis of the issues. The descriptive method analyzes the internal and external factors of Auburn’s character development in Confess. The researcher uses new criticism theory and Hurlock’s personality development to examine the issues. Moreover, this study also analyzes how the development of Auburn’s character in Confess. The results of this study show that the internal factors of Auburn’s character development are having free sex with no responsibilities, becoming a mother at a young age, surviving while living in Dallas, the desire to have custody of her son, and the grief following Adam’s death. Meanwhile, the external factors on Auburn’s character development are the geographical condition in Dallas, financial problems, the conflict with Lydia, meeting with Owen, and the romantic relationship with Trey. Lastly, this research shows that Auburn Reed is experiencing character development from being a reckless teenager to a hard-working woman and a responsible mother.
