English teachers' abilities and experiences at SMAN 1 Porong in using digital technology in elt

Nowadays, digital technology is an important component in complementing teaching and learning activities. Digital technology can help ease the teacher’s task and can also make learning more variety. This study aims to analyze (1) How is English teachers’ ability at SMAN 1 Porong in using digital technology in ELT? And (2) what is English teachers’ experience at SMAN 1 Porong in using digital technology in ELT. The subjects of this study were all English teachers at SMAN 1 Porong. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, using interviews and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The researcher finds the data and gives the questionnaire by using Google Form and the next day the researcher does an online interview by using Zoom. The subject of this research is all the English teachers in SMAN 1 Porong. The results of this study are (1) All the English teachers have abilities in using digital technology in classroom learning. (2) All the English teachers have experience in using digital technology in classroom learning. Teachers’ benefit from using digital technology, namely making material easier, presentation of material is also more varied, thereby increasing student interest in learning. The experiences felt by teachers also vary, some are already confident in using digital technology in every meeting; some are still learning to have the courage to use digital technology in every meeting. The challenges they face regarding the facilities owned by students are also inadequate networks and the personal abilities of these teachers. The several challenges that have been mentioned, the teacher also has solutions for each of these problems.
