Identical characterization of Louisa Clark and William Traynor in Me Before You: a comparative study in the novel and movie

This researcher examines the differences and similarities between the novel Me before you by Jojo Moyes and the film adaptation of the same title by Thea Sharrock. The researcher focuses on the two main characters in both works and the love storyline that occurs in the two main characters. Therefore, this research focuses on describing the characterization of the two characters that appear in the two works and the storyline that occurs in the two works. The researcher used a new critical approach to collect data based on the characterization of the two main characters in the two works. Since the researcher analyzed a Novel and its adaptation work in the form of a Movie, the researcher used a comparative study to analyze the two works. In this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative methods to collect data clearly and systematically. The results of this study found differences and similarities between the two works. Thea Sharrock follows the outline of Jojo Moyes' work in describing the two characters, such as caring, cheerful, stubborn, sarcastic, and adventurous. Because the novel is quite modern, Thea Sharrock describes the beautiful modernist setting and behavioral activities of the two main characters. In addition, Thea Sharrock adds a more intense and suspenseful flavor to her work.
