Max Pzoras's Character Development in The Yoga of Max's Discontent by Karan Bajaj

This study discusses the main character, Max, who changed from having no purpose in life to being a person who achieves his goals and finds meaning after taking a spiritual journey. There are three problems to be solved in this research: (1) How is Max’s personality described before going on a spiritual journey? (2) What spiritual journey influences Max's personality? (3) How is Max's personality development after being influenced by the spiritual journey? In conducting this research, the researcher uses New criticism as a theory to analyze Max’s characterization and Personality development theory used to analyze Max’s Personality development. This study uses a qualitative method to analyze the novel The Yoga of Max's Discontent by Karan Bajaj as the primary data source. The researcher collects the data through quotes in the novel that uses to explain what the main character goes through until he becomes a person who has a goal in life again. The results obtained from this study of the personality of Max Pzoras before he took a spiritual journey are emotional, indecisive, suffering, and traumatic. The spiritual journey that influences Max's personality is yoga and meditation. After taking a spiritual journey, Max’s personality development are calm, decisive, happy and peacefull, and well-being.
