Fenomena Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama: studi konstruksi sosial masyarakat islam di Magetan tahun 2021-2022

This thesis aims to analyze the social construction efforts carried out by Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama towards the Islamic community in Magetan which are ongoing during the 2021-2022 timeframe. The Islamic community of Magetan is still experiencing inequality due to gender bias which is intertwined with religious doctrines so that it creates many domino effects of problems such as in the field of education, access to citizenship, politics, and others. The phenomenon of Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama as a women's community organization based on traditionalist Islam is interesting to study because it seeks to influence mindsets and changes in Magetan society. This research uses a phenomenological approach and snowball sampling and triangulation methods. This thesis is analyzed by Berger and Luckmann's theory of social construction while the typology is assisted by Geertz's basic concept of variants of Javanese society with a little development. The results of this study reveal that Islamic society in Magetan in 2021-2022 is socially constructed by Fatayat NU, through three moments: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. The internalization stage itself gave rise to a typology of society with three variants. First, the characteristics and lifestyle of the santri community where they have authority in the field of religious knowledge and become a religious reference for the laity in Fatayat NU. Second, the characteristics and lifestyle of the abangan and priyayi people, namely those who wish to gain knowledge in the religious field from the santri and filling general expertise posts in Fatayat NU. Third, academics, namely those who are educated with progressive thinking who encourage the progress of Fatayat NU so that it is always relevant to the times.
