Abstract
Underground music has become a product of globalization which is favored by sub-cultural layers in various countries. Underground music often becomes an alternative means of conveying certain messages, one of which is also an innovation in instilling awareness to preserve existing local culture. This study attempts to analyze how the Tarakan Underground Community (TUC) carries out the glocalization process. This study uses qualitative methods and AGIL theory from Talcott Parsons to examine how the process of glocalization occurs. The researcher found that the TUC community has been carrying out a glocalization process since 2003 which was analyzed in 4 paradigms of AGIL theory, including: Adaptation (adaptation to underground music in Tarakan city, Goal attainment (how does TUC achieve the glocalization process), Integration (how does TUC maintain the balance of the ecosystem), Latency (how does TUC maintain patterns in the process of glocalization).
