Registers used in motorcycle club on American Crime drama television series Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC

This study analyzes registers used in motorcycle club on American crime drama television series Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC. The theory used in this study is the theory of registers by Wardhaugh (2006) and the theory of linguistic forms by Frank (1972). In addition, the researcher used television series transcripts as the data source in the study. In addition, this study consists of three problems: (1) What are the linguistic forms of registers used in Motorcycle club in the television series Son of Anarchy and Mayans MC? (2) What is the meaning of each register that appears in the television series Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC? (3) How does socio-cultural background affect the difference between the registers used by Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC? This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods because this study analyzes the language used by the motor club Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC. The data of this research are in the form of conversations containing registers and register words, as well as evidence of conversations containing socio-cultural backgrounds. The researcher used two transcripts, Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC transcript, the television series Sons of Anarchy and Maya MC, which were used by the researcher for analysis. Based on the analysis of the linguistic form of the register, the researcher found 30 data registers of the linguistic form of the motorcycle club Sons of Anarchy and 24 data registers of the linguistic form of the motorcycle club Mayans MC. In Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle club, the researcher found 19 data as nouns and 1 data as verbs, 8 data as phrases, and 2 as sentences. In Mayans MC motorcycle club the researcher found 14 data as nouns, 2 data as verbs, 5 data as phrases, 1 data as an abbreviation, and 2 as a sentence. In the socio-cultural background research, the socio-cultural background affects the registers because the social scope (place and language used) and the culture (cultural language) used to have an influence on the registers used by the Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC motor clubs.
