Peran guru pendidikan agama islam dan budi pekerti dalam penanaman nilai-nilai toleransi di SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Surabaya

Education is basic needed of human mindset making and characters. In this globalization era we was not attacked by some battles anymore, but throughout mental damage. This case become a consideration of educating and children’s’ characteristics making so they do not fail in basic values of Islamic religion. Instilling tolerance values become base of characters for children to understand about the differences among them. This research is qualitative descriptive research that wants to explain how Islamic teacher’s role in instilling tolerance values which have three points of research questions: 1. the learning process in the class in instilling tolerant values in SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Surabaya, 2. Plurality condition, Islamic teacher’s roles itself. The subject of this research is the teachers, the students, and the headmaster of SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Surabaya. In collecting data, the researcher used interview method, observation, and documentation. The data used are interview result from the teacher and students, field observation, and documentation. The result from this research showed: 1) learning process in the class that showed instilling tolerance values had better, because the students was given explanation about the definition of tolerant, after that the students was asked to look for the problems in daily life 2) the condition of plurality or the differences of the school itself, whether the condition applied tolerance life or not 3) the role of Islamic teachers is important because they are not only giving the understanding and instilling of tolerance inside the class but also outside the class because of this case considered as important case about someone’s belief in religion.
