Dakwah Nusantara: etika dai dalam Zad al Zu’ama wa Dhakhirat al Khutaba’ karya KH Bisri Mustofa

This article discusses the sustainability of religious proselytizing in Indonesia which prefers the path of peace over the path of war. One important reference that can be re-examined related to the propagation of this archipelago is the existence of the Book of Zad al-Zu'ama wa Dhakhirat al-Khutaba ’(provision of leaders and dai’s) by KH Bisri Mustofa. The book written by this pesantren scholar and politician in his time became an important reference for exploring the ethical values of the present context. Using a comprehensive content analysis method, this book narrates ethics and is more humanistic and tolerant. The results of the study concluded that the ethical concept of preach presented by KH Bisri contained 4 things, namely doing what was said, being polite and humble, having a vision of benefit, and having a forgiving and tolerant spirit. These four ethics have historical roots that are intertwined with the existing values in the pesantren. Values such as theocentric, voluntary, wisdom, simplicity, togetherness, and independence become important foundations in realizing the more civilized propaganda of the archipelago. In the end, the ethics make dai, as a bridge between Islam and society, become more developed and received with full awareness as the continuation of the Islamic proselytizing what offers full of grace and the message of peace.
