This research is about Word Formation Processes on Business Section, Jakarta Post. A Word formation process is the linguistics process of making new words or term. It is important to remark that, in many cases, words are borrowed due to historic occurrences, such as conquest and invasions, or to geographical proximity. Based on statement above, it makes the researcher interest to find new words about business section and understand word formation processes in business section. The researcher wants to find out kinds of word formation and the function of word formation processes on Business Section, Jakarta Post. The researcher uses the study of George Yule (1986) as the reference of kinds of word formation processes. Then the researcher uses theory from Laurie Bauer to analyze function of word formation. This study uses qualitative method to describe the data. According to Bodgan and Bilken (2007: 27-28); qualitative research has the natural setting as he direct source of data and the researcher is the key instrument, qualitative research is descriptive, qualitative research are concerned with process rather than simply with outcomes or products, qualitative researchers tend to analyze their data inductively, meaning is of essential concern to the qualitative approach The researcher finds ten kinds of word formation; those are borrowing, compounding, blending, clipping, backformation, conversion, acronym, derivation, prefixes suffixes, and multiple processes appear on Business Section Jakarta Post and two functions of word formation those are lexical enrichment and transposition function. The most used word formation in Business section Jakarta Post were borrowing processes.
