THE ACTS OF APOLOGY STRATEGY USED BY THE CHARACTERS IN THE “STUART LITTLE 2” MOVIE

This study is focused on analyzing of apology strategies and types of offences used by the main characters in “Stuart Little 2” movie. The purposes of this study are to investigate how the characters in the “Stuart Little 2” movie expressed apology strategyand determine type of offence that triggered the characters to use apology strategy in context of politeness.
This research is conducted using qualitative method based on Trosborg’s theory of apology category and compare it to type of offence proposed by Holmes. The data analysis is taken from the utterance uttered by the characters in “Stuart Little 2” movie. After analyzing the data, the writer found that not all the apology strategies are used in this “Stuart Little 2” movie and every strategy has its own characteristic and different offence that caused the characters to deliver their apologies.
