Noah's struggle to move on from Allie in The Notebook by Nichoas Sparks

The researcher choose this novel to this research because the researcher interested with this story novel about the journey of Noah love and the story about his struggle to move on from Allie.This research aimed to analyze Noah as a main character in The Notebook novel. The purpose of this research is to investigate three points of research problems; (1) how does the characterization of Noah in The Notebook novel ? (2) how is Noah’s struggle to move on from Allie in The Notebook novel? (3) how is the effect of Noah’s struggle in The Notebook novel?. This research used New Criticism and Psychological as a theory to investigate those three research problems. Data of the research were words and sentences that uttered by Noah in The Notebook novel. Qualitative method is used in this research to support the research itself. Based on the analysis, researcher found three results. The first is, as a main character; Noah is a faithful man, a family man, a respectful and responsible man and also an introvert. The second is, Noah as a main character who is analyzed his struggle to move on from Allie, the result is Noah still cannot move on from Allie no matter how hard Noah tries. The last, the effect of Noah’s struggle is Noah always think about Allie and remember all memories they have been experienced together.
