The use of snowball throwing technique in the teaching reading narrative text at the second grade of SMPN 3 Surabaya

The aims of this study are: To describe the students responses in using snowball throwing in teaching reading, to describe the students responses ini using snowball throwing in teaching reading, and to find the teachers difficulties in using snowball throwing technique. The study is descriptive research. The data of this study are taken by means of observation, questionnaire, and interview. The data are analyzed by using descriptive technique. The result of the research shows that the snowball throwing technique was a good technique in the reading class since almost all of the students showed their interest to involve actively in the rading class and their better works regularly for three times. From the data of questionnaire, it found that the student responses to be used of snowball throwing were good. Finally, the snowball throwing could be recomended as one alternative language learning that could be used by english teacher especially in reading class. Because it was proven to be able to activate students to read and share their knowledge each other.
