The effort of Holly's character in PS. I Love You: intertext concept in the novel and movie

The research’s aim is to find out how the Holly’s effort in live her life after losing her husband which appear in Cecelia Ahern’s novel, PS. I Love You, and Richard Lagravenese’s movie with the same tittle, by analyzing how the Holly’s effort in the novel, how the Holly’s effort in the movie and knowing the reasons why the differences happen in the novel and movie. This research applies descriptive method. The researcher uses intertextuality theory and sociocultural which is the branch from the theory as the tool to analyze the data and to answer the research questions. The first results of the research is to know Holly’s effort in the novel is seen in several aspects that is working aspect, socializing aspect and having a new love. The second results of the research is to know Holly’s effort in the movie is seen working aspect, partying, go to the park and having holiday. The third results is to know the reason why the differences happen between novel and movie that is because different different setting in their place and different characterization.
