Language Functions used by President Jokowi in #Jkwvlog

This study analyzes language functions used by Jokowi in his vlog #jkwvlog. The objectives of the study are to find the types of language functions used by Jokowi in his vlog uploaded in his youtube official account and to describe the most types of language function that used by Jokowi.This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected from the utterences of Jokowi in his vlog and the data source is the transcript of Jokowi’s utterence from his vlog. The researcher used theory of Jocobson to analyze language functions.The result of this study shows there are five types of language functions categorized by Jocobson found in 8 vlog of Jokowi. They are referential, emotive, connative, phatic, and metalingual functions of language. However, the researcher found that the function of language mostly used by Jokowi in his vlog is referential function with totally used in 17 utterences. Connative functions is considered as the second most frequently used in five utterances. The third is emotive function used in four utterances. Than phatic used in three utterances. Whereas metalingual function used in 1 utterance.
