The Impact Of English Program On Students'speaking Confidence : Study Case At Ma Plus Burhanul Hidayah

This thesis examines the impact of English program on students’ speaking confidence at MA Plus Burhanul Hidayah. The researcher chooses fifteen students (five students represent each classes; X, XI, and XII) of MA Plus Burhanul Hidayah. This study used mixed method research. To collect the data, the study used questionnaire, and students’ interview. Questionnaire sheet and students’ interview guidelines are the instruments to collect the data. The researcher uses the questionnaire sheet to know the impact of English program and interview guide is used by the researcher to know why the impact of English program arise. Some steps used to analyze the data; those are data reduction, data display¸ data transformation, data correlation, data consolidation, data comparison and data integration. The result of the study show the impact of English program on students’ speaking confidence, such as; active expressing the idea, do not feel nervous to communication, do not feel afraid making mistake and some problem which causes the students’ lack confidence before joining English program, such as; worry about making mistakes, shy of the attention, feel nervous, do not know the meaning of the words in English and difficult to express the information in mind. The study shows that English program gives many impacts to students and the learning process. Moreover, in speaking confidence, the impact of English program could make the students solve problems about self-confidence and motivated in learning English. It also gives the teacher a great help in teaching and learning English.
